Old Earth Creationism (abbreviated as OEC) is a modern theory that proposes that God created the Earth and all of the Universe over the course of a long period of time in alignment with what modern scientific theories suggest, starting with the Big Bang followed by natural processes/mechanisms observed for formation of stars, planets, etc. This is opposed to Young Earth Creationism, which contends that God made/set the Universe and the Earth as it is in a 6-day timeframe.

There are variations of OEC, such as those which would include (or exclude) natural physical death occurring before the Fall of man.
