The Persian Empire refers to multiple Empires in Iran and the Middle East from 550 BC to 651 AD.
The first Persian Empire, usually called the Achaemenid Empire, was founded by Cyrus the Great and conquered the dominant Babylonian Empire in 539 BC, thus liberating the Israelites from exile.
